2019 Travel Bucket List
Last updated on February 27, 2019.
Wow. 2018 was an amazing year. I was able to cross off several high items on my lifelong travel bucket list. I traveled around four different continents, visiting 7 new countries – Brazil, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Japan, UAE, and Kuwait. I even managed to fit in a last-minute trip to New Orleans, Louisiana for my 30th birthday! (So many stories coming for you!) So with all of those accomplishments, I can only imagine what 2019 has in store for me.
It’s time for a refresh to the blog with a new layout and a new logo. I’ve got some big ideas that I’m excited to work on and share with you. And I’d love to hear what you’re looking for too! So sit back, relax, and see what’s on my list for 2019.
Cities
London, UK
London has come up in conversation so much lately, that I think it’s meant to be next year. While I’ve been watching some of my Christmas favorites, like The Holiday and Love Actually, my desire to visit the UK has only grown. I want to stand next to Big Ben when the clock strikes noon. I want to ride the London Eye and take some great photos. Explore the lush countryside from the setting of every Jane Austen novel. Eat fish’n’chips at a local pub. Visit the sites where scenes from Harry Potter were filmed. The list goes on!
Pittsburgh, PA
Ok, after London, I know this sounds insignificant. But seriously – I’ve never been to Pittsburgh! It’s less than 6 hours for me to drive there and I’ve been to every other corner of PA. Just not Pittsburgh. And I have two really close friends from there! So I have to make it there in 2019. I mean, what’s not to love about a city that has a Great Pierogi Race during baseball games?!
Savannah, GA
Savannah is one of the places I’ve been wanting to go to for ages. I’ve had friends and family rave about it. From Paula Dean’s restaurant to haunted tours and Forsyth Park, it is a dream place for me! Savannah was originally on our itinerary for my husband’s 30th birthday roadtrip, but was one of the stops we had to leave out due to time. That’s okay, because I wouldn’t have had enough time there anyway! Regardless, I need to make it down there. Hopefully 2019 is the year for me!
Reykjavik, Iceland
One of my favorite travel buddies and I have been talking about going to Iceland for at least a year now. Aaaaand since I have lots of vacation time to use up soon and I found some kick-ass flights, I can gladly say that Reykjavik is the first place I’m visiting in 2019! We will be heading there in just over two weeks for a girls’ trip. Northern lights, waterfalls, glaciers, ice caves, volcanic craters… I can’t wait!
Curious how I found the flights? Check out my guide to finding great flights!
Places
The Wild Center
Tupper Lake, NY
Located in Tupper Lake in the Adirondack Mountains (also not too far from me), The Wild Center is one of the biggest attractions in the region. From animal encounters and exhibits on the nature of the Adirondacks to the Wild Walk, the place just looks and sounds amazing. What is the Wild Walk? Just something that should be on everyone‘s bucket list! It’s a walkway built up in the trees so you can get the best views of the mountains – ending in a giant birdnest and a simulated giant spider’s web. It’s incredible! Being such a huge fan of the Adirondacks, I can’t believe I haven’t been yet.
Saranac Brewery
Utica, NY

I know, I know. Another surprise. And while I’ve technically been on the Saranac Brewery premises (to see an awesome Dropkick Murphy’s concert!), I haven’t been inside to the brewery. So many of my friends and family have been and rave about the brewery tour and samples afterwards. With my husband and my love for visiting breweries and wineries (and the fact that it’s less than an hour from my house…), it’s a little ridiculous that I haven’t visited! By far the most famous and widely distributed brewery in Central New York, I have to get there!
American Museum of Natural History
New York, NY
Home to the movie Night at the Museum, the American Museum of Natural History is another place that I’ve always wanted to visit, but just haven’t! I’ve heard such great things about it – I’ve even had plans to go but they fell through! I’ve wandered around Central Park right outside the steps to the museum. I have to make 2019 the year that I step foot inside! In addition to our yearly trip to NYC for Christmas, I’ve already got plans to visit Manhattan two more times next year – once for work and again to see Hugh Jackman! So there’s a very good chance that this one will be easy to check off my list.
Events
Wizarding Weekend
Ithaca, NY
In case you didn’t already know, I’m a HUGE Harry Potter fan. (A proud Ravenclaw with a dapple grey stallion patronus!) Ithaca is just over an hour away from my house. Why haven’t I been? That’s a darn good question. Most likely the answer is because Wizarding Weekend falls on the weekend before Halloween, and my husband and I love Halloween. The past few years have included a trip to Salem, a trip to Sleepy Hollow, and a tour of the haunted houses in central New York. But this year is going to be magical! I already have it marked in my calendar to visit Ithaca that weekend, and I can’t wait.

WaterFire
Providence, RI
Another one that’s been on my list for a while! My husband had originally planned on proposing at WaterFire, but he got over-eager and proposed a month earlier on my birthday at home. We then planned a trip to go back to Rhode Island later that year for WaterFire, but then I had back problems and was put on couch-rest for several days. Trip cancelled. Boo! So, even though I’ve been to Rhode Island multiple times now, I still haven’t seen the lights! Here’s hoping it works out this year.
That’s All Folks!
So what’s on your travel bucket list for 2019? Do we share any goals? Have any that are super unique? Let me know in the comments! I’ll be sure to keep y’all updated as the year goes on and I cross things off.
Give this post some love!
