6 Acres Farm Brewery in Mexico, NY is Slinging Pints and Hot Dogs
Last updated on November 12, 2025.
Earlier this year, a new craft brewery opened its doors in Mexico, New York, bringing the craft beer scene in Oswego County back to life. Although while 6 Acres Farm Brewery in Mexico, NY may be a brand-new venture, the family business is well known. Why? The brewery is actually the newest venture for family owned and operated Behling Orchards. Since 1947, generations of the Behling family have been harvesting apples, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cherries, and more. Now Jenna Behling is adding craft beer and gourmet hot dogs to that list.
About 6 Acres Farm Brewery
The name 6 Acres Farm Brewery comes from the historic 6 acres of land that the Behling family farm originated on. Wanting to pay homage to her family’s business, Jenna felt that was the perfect name for her passion project. Located just 2.5 miles from the orchards, the brewery is set in a rural part of Mexico, New York. The building looks like a beautiful mix of a barn and a log cabin, with a matching barn in all black abutting the first. A large deck spans the length of the front, side, and back with room for several tables, live music, and line dancing. Behind the barn the rolling hills lead down to a picturesque pond.
Inside the barn you’ll find lots of nods to the Behling family business’s history. The planks along the front face of the bar and the water fountain shelf are made from old apple crates. The ceiling tiles come from one of the old barns. Wooden plates from the cider press hang from the ceiling in the dining area. Jenna’s grandmother’s couch sits in one corner and two railway carts repurposed as tables give the space a cozy, inviting atmosphere. The interior blends historic and modern touches seemlessly into the perfect place for community gatherings.

The Beer
Even though the brewery and taproom just opened in May of this year, Jenna has many years of brewing experience under her belt. The 6 Acres brand was established in 2019 while their first brews were served at the orchards.
With a farm brewery license, 6 Acres sources the majority of its ingredients from within New York State, with many coming right from the family farm. Guests will notice the prevalence of the Behling family’s history in beers such as “At the Berry Patch” strawberry shortcake ale and “Harvest Raspbeery” red raspberry ale. The “Rae of Sunshine” blonde ale was my favorite. And also the favorite of many customers who ordered while I was at the brewery. A couple of classic American IPAs “A Time for Greatness” and “Sunflower Daze” round out the light beer options. The only current dark beer was the “Campfire Songs” smores porter.
Jenna has plans for many seasonal offerings, including a pumpkin beer in the fall. And I’d truly be surprised if there wasn’t an apple beer planned as well!

The Hot Dogs
When choosing a menu of food to serve at the brewery, Jenna wanted to create something unique. But she also wanted a menu that offered a lot of variety with a simple list of ingredients. So she decided to create a menu of 20 gourmet hot dogs. Jenna and her team did so much taste testing on different hot dog toppings before the brewery opened that she got sick of hot dogs. But her hard work paid off.
The kitchen, located to the right of the bar, has an order window surrounded by two chalkboards detailing all 20 specialty hot dogs. Made with locally famous Hoffman hot dogs, each wiener has a clever assortment of toppings. Eclectic mixes of housemade sauces, crushed chips (potato chips, doritos, and takis), chopped veggies, and other condiments get piled high on the rolls. Many of the creatively-named combinations are punny or done in honor of Jenna’s dogs (Sage, Maui, and Harley).
Here are just a few of the gourmet hot dogs available at the brewery, available for $5.50 each:
Daredevil Sage: Topped with Mexican street corn, crushed takis, and cotija cheese.
Bunbelievable Pretzel: Topped with beer cheese, brown mustard, bacon, and scallions. Served on a pretzel bun.
Maui Sunrise: Topped with pineapple, bacon, and a barbecue drizzle.

In addition to the hot dogs, the menu features chicken tenders, chicken wing dip, french fries, and fried pickles. Vegan hot dogs are available upon request and Jenna is in the process of sourcing high-quality gluten-free buns.
