Put Yourself First at these Spas & Wellness Centers in Oswego County

Last updated on August 5, 2024.

In this hectic world we live in, it’s more important ever to remember to slow down. Recharge. Make your physical and mental health a priority. Luckily, there are more and more places where we can do just that. Massages, sound therapy, yoga, spa treatments, and more await you at these spas and wellness centers in Oswego County.

Aqua Spa Float Center

Oswego, NY

Located in the heart of downtown Oswego along the banks of the river is Aqua Spa Float Center & Wellness Boutique. The center, owned by Tammy and Terry Wilkinson, opened in 2020. Years prior, Tammy was diagnosed with Lupus and searched for ages to find therapy that would help with her pain relief and stress reduction.

Float therapy was the solution she needed. And after finding such success with it, she knew she wanted to bring that to the local community. Now, she and her partner own an award-winning 6,500-square-foot facility providing float therapy and several other treatments. Aqua Spa features a variety of suites for the different therapies, with most being private for the individual or couple using it.

In addition to Aqua Spa’s signature float therapy, guests can experience halotherapy (salt rooms), cryotherapy (cold chamber), infrared saunas, deluxe massage chairs, and an oxygen bar. Additionally, the spa offers IV drip therapy, micro-needling, cryoskin, hydrofacials, LED light therapy, and PBM therapy. The staff is well-trained in each of the specialties and happy to answer any questions you have before or after your treatments.

All of the different treatments at Aqua Spa are intended to relax and recharge your body. They revitalize your immune systems and relieve your pain. All things that are absolutely delightful – and beneficial – for your body.

Flourish Beauty & Spa

Oswego, NY

While Flourish Beauty & Spa is a bit more focused on beauty treatments, there are a few wellness options available to guests. Also located in the heart of Oswego, Flourish provides a wide range of massages, body wraps, and facials for its customers. Salt glows and seaweed wraps target the skin to make it feel baby soft and fresh. Both full-body and chair massages help work out the tension you’ve been storing up, and relieve the pain in your muscles. Guests can choose from deep stone, Swedish, prenatal, trigger point focused, reflexology massages and more.

Holistic Horizons at Fiddlehead Grove

West Monroe, NY

If you’re looking for some relaxation that’s a bit more holistic, and includes outdoor options, consider Holistic Horizons at Fiddlehead Grove. Located on 86 acres of private land in West Monroe, Fiddlehead Grove has a similar origin story. Owner Cathleen Kelly was a nurse and home health aide by trade, with a focus on holistic healing. Like Tammy, Cathleen struggled with her own physical health and sought alternative treatment methods for relief. That’s when she decided to build on her dream of establishing a healing center.

Cathleen started building out the retreat in 2004, beginning with the construction of a 7-circuit labyrinth. Over the past twenty years, she and her husband have continued expanding. There’s a large room designed for yoga, reiki, meditation, and gong ceremonies. They recently added a larger, 11-circuit labyrinth. Inside their house, guests are welcomed in for reflexology, channeled healing, and massages. Plus there are miles of trails for visitors to explore in the woods.

Fiddlehead Grove specializes in team, family, and healing retreats. The activities available are mostly catered to adults, but can be adapted for younger guests.

The Spa at Tailwater

Altmar, NY

You might not expect one of the best resorts in New York State to be located in the quiet town of Altmar, but Tailwater Lodge exceeds every expectation. And one of the most popular amenities at the lodge? The spa, of course. I’ve visited the spa on multiple occasions. I stand by the fact that the staff at Tailwater’s spa provides some of the best customer service you’ll ever have.

The spa at Tailwater offers a variety of services, including massages, body wraps, facials, and body scrubs. As with any spa, guests receive a robe and pair of sandals to use within the wellness center. They have access to the relaxation room with lounge chairs, blankets, and a fireplace. There are also light snacks and fruit-infused water. Outside, spa guests can use the private hot tub year-round. A sauna is located in each locker room.

As far as the treatments, there are options for both individuals and couples. In addition to their normal offerings, Tailwater Spa also has special seasonal treatments. These special offers include unique scents in the lotions and scrubs, designed to give you a more personalized experience.
