Women-Owned Businesses in Oswego, NY that You Need to Visit

Last updated on April 13, 2023.

Women’s History Month may be over, but that’s no reason to stop highlighting and supporting women! With women owning only about 40% of businesses, women-run stores and restaurants celebrate creativity, diversity, and ingenuity. So it’s time to check out some of the incredible women-owned businesses in Oswego, New York – and some that are run by women too.

Mind you, these are just some of the brick-and-mortar woman-owned businesses in Oswego. There are plenty more! And even more that operate out of their own homes or nomadically.

Blossom & Bloom Boutique

Lovingly known as “the store with the pink door,” Blossom & Bloom Boutique is owned by Halloween-fanatic and fashion-lover Rachel Morgan. Turning her passion into her work, Blossom & Bloom is stocked full of women’s clothing, shoes, accessories, and giftables. Customers can find some of the more unique items for their wardrobes inside the chic boutique.

Coffee Connection

Very few things are better than a great cup of coffee to start the day. Or enjoy in the afternoon. Or finish off dinner. Coffee all day long! Luckily, Coffee Connection in Oswego is serving out more coffee during more hours of the day. Tara Hoyt moved her beloved cafe to a bigger and better location last year. The cafe features a wide variety of brews, including unique daily specials on regular, flavored, decaf, and iced coffee.

Additionally, Crumb opened inside Coffee Connection in February. This expanded the offerings at the cafe to include sandwiches, salads, pastas, and other dishes.

Kristen’s Kitchen

While I hate the phrase “Women belong in the kitchen,” we can’t deny that women can be complete rockstars in the kitchen! And Kristen Aluzzi is just that. As the owner of Kristen’s Kitchen at Battle Island, she has been creating delicious meals and serving them both at the restaurant and through catering gigs. Her loyal base of customers rave about both her cooking and her event coordination – which is also top notch!

Man in the Moon Candies

Yes, Oswego’s favorite chocolate shop is woman-owned! Owned by Amy Stone-Lear, Man in the Moon Candies continues her grandparents’ legacy of providing quality candies to the local community. The candy shop dates back to 1935, when the Amy’s grandparents started the company. Ray and Gladys began by selling hard suckers – shaped like a grinning man in the moon.

Located in the heart of downtown Oswego, Man in the Moon continues to be at the center of the local community. As soon as you step inside the shop, the smell of chocolate welcomes you with open arms. The historic local candy shop makes some delicious chocolates and fudge varieties, and in the summer they have ice cream too.

Port City Day Spa

One thing women know how to do well is to pamper themselves! And you can do just that at Port City Day Spa in Oswego. Cindy Reed is both the owner and main stylist at the spa. Services include hair cuts, colors, perms, waxing, nail services, massages, facials, and more. So treat yourself to something special. You deserve it.

Tatlim Bakery

There aren’t many places in Central New York where you can get authentic Turkish coffee. But Tatlim Bakery is one of them! The Turkish-European bakery opened just a year ago, but is quickly becoming a much-loved culinary spot in Oswego. Sevgi Evren Familo emigrated to the US from Turkey and is now sharing her passion for her native cuisine with fellow New Yorkers. Visit the bakery yourself to try some of her perfected macarons, baklava, cream puffs, eclairs, and more.
