If you’re like most people, there is nothing better than fresh picked fruit in the summer. Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries… Plenty of berries to keep you satisfied until apple and pumpkin picking season in the fall. Luckily for us Central New Yorkers, there are plenty of farms offering u-pick berries. Here’s where to go blueberry picking in Oneida County. The patches are overflowing with fresh, juicy blueberries waiting to be picked.

A few words of advice before you head to the fields. Most of the farms only accept cash, so be sure to visit the ATM before you visit the farm (or call to ask if they take card). Also, while most farmers love animals, please leave your dog at home for your blueberry picking adventures.
Where to Go Blueberry Picking in Oneida County
Blueberry Brook Farm Resort
📍 6827 Van Hyning Rd, Deansboro
In one of the many fields surrounding the farmhouse at Blueberry Brook Farm Resort, you’ll find rows upon rows of blueberries. Luckily for guests who are staying at the resort, picking blueberries is complimentary when they are ripe. But it’s not just for guests. During blueberry picking season, visitors to the property can also pay a small fee to pick blueberries.


Blueberry Hill Farms & Nursery
📍 6884 Roberts Rd, Clinton
Located near the quaint village of Clinton, New York, Blueberry Hill Farms is own of the best places to go blueberry picking in Upstate New York. Why? To start, they are one of the only blueberry farms that state what varieties of blueberry bushes they have: Bluecrop, Blueray, Duke, and Jersey. There are 35 rows of blueberries covering three acres of land. Secondly, in addition to pick-your-own and pre-picked blueberries, the nursery also sells blueberry plants. That way you can have your own blueberry bush at home to enjoy.
Pick-your-own hours vary, so be sure to check their Facebook page for the weekly schedule. Blueberries are $3 per pound. Pre-picked blueberries vary in price depending on the quantity.
Candella’s Farm & Greenhouses
📍 9256 River Road, Marcy
While strawberry picking season is over at Candella’s Farm in Marcy, blueberry picking is in its prime! The farm announced that the blueberry bushes look better this year than they ever have before. They are bursting with ripe, juicy berries wwaiting to be picked. Bring your own container or purchase one at the farm. Then fill it up with blueberries for just $2.19 per pound (cash only). Hours vary daily, so check their Facebook page for the latest updates.

North Star Orchards

North Star Orchards is one of the most popular farmers markets near Utica. And during blueberry season, visitors can pick from six acres of blueberry bushes. Collected blueberries are charged by the pound. Back at the store, there is also a wide selection of fresh baked goodies, flowers, and locally sourced foods to choose from. Of course, you can also buy your pre-picked fruits there too.


What will you make with your fresh picked blueberries?
Will you start your day with some blueberry crepes, blueberry pancakes, or blueberry muffins? Maybe you’ll enjoy some blueberry tea or blueberry smoothies throughout the day. Perhaps a blueberry cocktail? Pork chops with a blueberry glaze? Or will you go the dessert route with some blueberry pie, blueberry crisp, blueberry crumble, blueberry cobbler, blueberry cake, blueberry cookies, blueberry parfaits, blueberry tarts, blueberry donuts, blueberry ice cream…? There truly are endless options.
